Almost a decade ago (in the craze of The Secret), a particular concept just stuck with me – if you want something, make sure you make space to receive it. Though these days I want less tangible things, I still enjoy finding pockets of space.
I am in the middle of a life audit – I observe and non-judgmentally question where and to what my attention and energy go to. While brainstorming how to go about obeying spirit and writing every day, I remembered to honor and start with the space I currently have. I opened this blog a whole year ago and it took me months to start posting because I was overthinking and therefore overwhelming myself with details that are irrelevant to what I enjoy doing – actually writing.
I have no idea where the next 365 days are going to take me, but I am here for it. Some days I am sure I’ll have a lot to share, and other days I’ll just share my existence. Today, I am honoring the space in between the space.
I am feeling tired after a long day, and I am now here writing about space and nothingness and existing. I showed up, and now I am going to take a warm shower and go to bed. I hope I have another opportunity tomorrow to just be.
Signing off for tonight,
Seshat
My love for space was re-awakened through an in-class exercise. I leave the prompts below in case you’d like to try and take notice of any theme(s) that show up for you.
Answer the questions following your initial instincts. After you have answered, use the prompt “I am ” to describe why do you identify with your choice.
- If you were an animal, which animal would you be? Ex. Snake – I am fluid
- If you were a car, which type of car would you be? Ex. Pick up truck – I am spacious
- If you were a wood, what type of wood would you be? Ex. Hardwood. I am durable.
- If you were a food what type of food would you be?
- If you were a fabric, what type of fabric would you be?
- If you were a color, what type of color would you be?
- If you were a scent, what type of scent would you be?
- If you were music, what type of music genre would you be?
- If you were a vacation, what type of vacation would you be?
What you thinkin’?
